2012

The University of Miami baseball team returns 18 letterwinners from the 2011 season in which the Hurricanes advanced to their NCAA-record 39th consecutive NCAA Regional, competing in the Gainesville [Fla.] Regional. Finishing the season ranked as high as No. 22, Miami continued to be a mainstay in the Top 25 of the nation’s most renowned baseball polls.

Miami not only returns five positional starters from a year ago, but they also bring back all five starting pitchers from 2011 – as well as a three-year starter from previous years. In all, UMiami has eight pitchers back on the staff and should have one of the best starting rotations in the country.

Behind their venerable leader, legendary head coach Jim Morris, the Canes are poised to make another run at their “second home” – Omaha, Neb. For UMiami, the season began when the final pitch was thrown last year. Now, the program looks for its fifth national title – and seeks to remain the only Division I team in the state of Florida to lay claim to a national crown.
